Terms
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
These terms apply to teaching and assessment services provided by I Can Maths (“we”, “us”, “the teacher”) to the parent or guardian who enrols a learner (“you”). They form part of your enrolment agreement. Please read them alongside our Privacy Notice.
Fees and payment
A once-off enrolment fee of R500 is payable for new learners before lessons commence. This fee is non-refundable.
Tuition fees are payable monthly in advance, on or before the fifth day of each calendar month. A learner’s place is confirmed once payment for the month has been received. Fees are quoted in South African Rand.
Lessons and attendance
Each learner is allocated two recurring lesson times per week, which are reserved for that learner.
If a learner is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, the lesson remains chargeable and no refund or credit is provided. This applies to absences resulting from illness, school activities, sporting events, family commitments or any other personal circumstances.
If the teacher is unable to provide a scheduled lesson, the fee for that lesson is credited against the following month’s tuition fees.
School and public holidays
No lessons are provided during official school holidays or on South African public holidays. Lessons falling on these dates are excluded when calculating the monthly tuition fees and do not appear on that month’s invoice.
Cancelling enrolment
You may cancel your child’s enrolment at any time by letting us know in writing (an email is fine). Enrolment runs month to month, and because fees are paid monthly in advance, cancelling simply means your child’s reserved lesson times are not continued into the following month. There is no fixed notice period and no cancellation penalty. The current month has already been paid and runs to the end of that month as normal; it is not refunded. No further fees are due after that.
Termination by I Can Maths
We may end the arrangement if, in the teacher’s reasonable professional judgement, it is no longer suitable, productive or in the learner’s best interests — for example where a learner is consistently unwilling to participate, the approach is not meeting the learner’s needs, or there is a breakdown in the working relationship. Except where immediate termination is reasonably necessary because of serious misconduct, a safety concern or another material issue, we will give you reasonable written notice.
Any fees paid in advance for lessons scheduled after the termination date are refunded or credited in full. Fees for lessons already provided, or properly due before the termination date, remain payable.
Progress and results
We provide teaching with reasonable skill and care. Teaching supports a learner’s progress, but academic improvement or a particular result cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on several factors, including regular attendance, participation, attitude, individual effort, completion of assigned work and cooperation between the learner, parent or guardian and teacher.
Illness and emergencies
If a learner becomes ill or an emergency occurs during a lesson, you authorise the teacher to contact you or your nominated emergency contact. If neither person can be reached, you authorise the teacher to obtain reasonable emergency assistance where necessary and in the learner’s best interests.
Your information (POPIA)
We process the learner’s and the parent’s or guardian’s personal information only for legitimate purposes connected with providing and administering tuition, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and our Privacy Notice. We do not sell or share it for marketing.
